First-Line: SSRIs and SNRIs

Sertraline, escitalopram, venlafaxine. Daily, four to six weeks to work, the standard for ongoing anxiety. Side effects early (nausea, sleep changes) usually fade.

Non-Sedating Options

Buspirone for generalized anxiety without sedation; hydroxyzine for short-term relief; propranolol for performance anxiety and the physical symptoms (racing heart, shaking).

What We Do Not Prescribe

Benzodiazepines (alprazolam, lorazepam, clonazepam). They work fast and cause dependence; they are not prescribed on house calls or video visits.

How It Works

A video visit ($50) or house call ($599) for evaluation, labs at home to rule out thyroid and other causes, and a referral to therapy, which works as well as medication for most people.
