Why It Is Called the Espresso Shot

The nickname fits. B12 is one of the cleanest, most used energy support vitamins. It does not give you a stimulant rush, but it can help your body produce energy at the cellular level. After a few hours, many clients say they feel sharper and more focused, like the fog has lifted.

When the Shot Beats the IV Add-On

The shot is a faster appointment. No IV line, no fluids, just a quick intramuscular injection in your upper arm or hip. If you only want B12 and do not need hydration, the shot is the simpler choice. If you want B12 plus a full vitamin lineup and fluids, an IV makes more sense.

Reasons People Book the Espresso Shot

—Quick midweek energy lift
—Vegan or vegetarian B12 upkeep
—Recovery after a tough sleep stretch
—Pre workout or pre event boost
—Adults over 50 who may not absorb B12 from food well
—Anyone wanting B12 without a full IV

How the Injection Feels

The B12 shot goes into a large muscle, usually your upper arm (deltoid) or your hip area (gluteal). The injection itself takes about 10 seconds. Most clients feel a quick pinch and a brief warmth. There may be mild soreness for a few hours, similar to a flu shot.

When the Lift Kicks In

Intramuscular B12 releases more slowly than IV B12. Some clients feel a small lift within a few hours. Most notice clearer thinking and steadier energy the next day. The benefit can last a week or longer.

Methylcobalamin vs. Cyanocobalamin

We use methylcobalamin in every Zen IV Spa B12 product. It is the active form your body can use right away. Cyanocobalamin (a cheaper form found in many clinics) has to be converted before your cells can use it. Both work, but methylcobalamin is the better quality option.

How Often to Get a B12 Shot

Once a week is common for clients with low B12 or high demands. Once or twice a month works for general energy support. Your RN can suggest a rhythm based on your goals and how you respond.

Safety Notes

B12 shots are one of the safest injectables in IV therapy. Side effects are rare. People with kidney disease, Leber disease, or cobalt allergies should let our medical team know. Pregnant clients usually can get B12 shots, but we confirm through intake review.

Pairs Well With

Add a Glow Shot (glutathione) for a full energy and skin combo. Add a Sunshine Shot (vitamin D3) for immune support too. Three shots in one visit is one of our most booked combos.

Common Questions

Will I feel a buzz like real espresso?+

No. The nickname is about energy support, not stimulation. You will not feel jittery.

How long does a B12 shot last?+

Most clients feel a benefit for a week or longer. Some feel it for two or three weeks.

Can my friend and I do shots together?+

Yes. Our RNs can do multiple clients in one visit. Each person has their own intake review.

Is the IV B12 add-on stronger than the shot?+

The IV gives a quicker peak in your bloodstream. The shot releases more slowly. Both deliver a clean dose. Choose based on whether you want a full IV session or just a fast visit.

Can kids get a B12 shot?+

We do not provide stand alone B12 shots to children. Pediatric care has special protocols. Our Kids Mini Myers IV (ages 12+, 100 lbs+) is the right route for kids when needed.

Licensed RNs and Medical Oversight

Every Zen IV Spa session is delivered by a registered nurse with hospital-grade training. A medical provider reviews your intake form before any treatment. Our protocols follow standards used in clinical IV therapy, with safety screening for every add-on, every dose, and every client.

We use methylcobalamin B12, D3 cholecalciferol, and pharmaceutical-grade ingredients sourced from licensed compounding partners. We do not substitute lower-grade forms to cut costs.
