Bypassing the Gut
Oral vitamin C and B-complex are capped by intestinal absorption; infusion puts the full dose into circulation at once, reaching plasma levels oral dosing cannot.
Magnesium and Smooth Muscle
Magnesium acts as a natural calcium antagonist, relaxing smooth muscle in vessel walls — the mechanism behind its use in tension headache and cramp.
Cofactors, Not Fuel
B vitamins are not energy. They are the cofactors mitochondria need to convert food into ATP, so repletion helps when the cofactor was what ran short.
Before, During and After
Before
Eat something and drink water in the two hours beforehand — a hydrated vein is an easy vein. Have your medication and supplement list ready; leave nothing off it.
During
Your nurse checks vitals and places a small catheter, usually in the forearm. You will feel cool fluid for a minute. Sit back, work, read or sleep — the nurse stays with you throughout.
After
Keep the dressing on for an hour. Mild bruising at the site is normal for a day or two. Drink normally; there is no need to force fluids afterwards.
What the Science Actually Supports
The Myers' formula has been used clinically since the 1960s and remains the best-characterised general infusion. Evidence is strongest for correcting measurable deficiency and for acute rehydration; in people with normal labs the benefit is largely symptomatic.
