The Site

Subcutaneous, into the fat layer: the belly (two inches from the navel), thigh or upper arm, rotating weekly. Stay two inches from the navel, avoid scars and bruises, and rotate so the same spot is not used two days in a row.

Technique

Wash hands. Swab the site and let it dry. Pinch a fold of skin, insert the short needle at 90 degrees (45 if you are lean), push the plunger slowly, hold three seconds, withdraw. Do not rub. Dispose in the sharps container we ship.

Avoiding Problems

Room-temperature medication stings less. Inject slowly. Bruising means a surface vessel; it is harmless. Redness that spreads or lasts more than two days: message the provider.

A Nurse Can Do the First One

Anywhere in New York or New Jersey, a nurse comes to your door for the first injection and shows you. At Zen IV Spa every program is prescribed by our medical director, a licensed physician, after a $50 video consultation and labs drawn at your home. Medication ships overnight anywhere in New York or New Jersey from an FDA-registered 503A pharmacy, and a nurse can come for the first dose.
