Cheap and effective over three to six months if you take them consistently and your gut absorbs them. Constipation, nausea and stomach pain stop many people. Absorption is poor with coffee, calcium, and some gut conditions.

One or two infusions at home ($399 each, about an hour) raise ferritin within weeks. For heavy periods, pregnancy, post-surgery, gut absorption problems, or anyone who has failed pills.
How to Decide
Labs first (CBC, ferritin, iron studies, drawn at home). Mild deficiency and a tolerant stomach: pills, every other day. Ferritin very low, symptoms significant, or pills failed: IV.
