Melatonin
A hormone that signals darkness. Best for timing problems: jet lag, shift work, falling asleep too late. Low dose (0.5 to 1 mg) two hours before bed works better than the 10 mg gummies. Over the counter.
DSIP
Delta sleep-inducing peptide, studied for slow-wave sleep. For sleep that is shallow or broken rather than mistimed. Subcutaneous injection 30 to 60 minutes before bed, $229 a month, prescription. Some people do not respond.
Try In This Order
Fix light and caffeine timing. Low-dose melatonin for a month. If you still wake unrefreshed, DSIP, or sermorelin ($229), which improves deep sleep as a side benefit of growth-hormone release.
How to Get It
At Zen IV Spa every program is prescribed by our medical director, a licensed physician, after a $50 video consultation and labs drawn at your home. Medication ships overnight anywhere in New York or New Jersey from an FDA-registered 503A pharmacy, and a nurse can come for the first dose.
