Blood vs Skin Testing

Skin-prick testing is done in an allergist's office. Blood (IgE) testing finds the same common allergens from one draw and can be done at home. For most people it is enough to find the trigger.

What a Panel Covers

Environmental: pollens, dust mite, pet dander, molds. Food: milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, wheat, soy, shellfish, fish. Regional panels for the Northeast.

What To Do With Results

Avoidance for foods, medication plans for environmental triggers, and a referral to an allergist for immunotherapy if symptoms are severe.
