Yes, With a Reason
A licensed physician or nurse practitioner on a house call can prescribe antibiotics the same way a clinic can: for strep throat, bacterial sinus and ear infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, bronchitis with a bacterial cause, and more. The prescription goes to your pharmacy, and in many cases a first dose is given on the spot.
What They Will Not Do
Prescribe antibiotics for a cold, the flu, or most sore throats. Those are viruses, antibiotics do nothing for them, and taking them anyway breeds resistance. A good provider tests first: rapid strep, flu, COVID. If the test says viral, you get the treatment that works for that instead.
What Else Can Be Prescribed at Home
Antivirals (Tamiflu, Paxlovid), inhalers, steroids, antihistamines, anti-nausea, acid reducers, non-narcotic pain medication. Controlled substances are not dispensed on a house call.
