Mild to Moderate: A House Call Works

Wheezing, tightness, a cough that will not settle, but you can speak in full sentences and your oxygen is above 94%. The provider brings a nebulizer, gives albuterol and ipratropium, adds a steroid, and stays until you are breathing comfortably.

Severe: Call 911

Unable to speak a full sentence, blue lips or nails, oxygen below 92%, no improvement after a nebulizer, confusion. Do not wait for a house call.

After the Flare

A refill of your rescue inhaler, a controller inhaler if you are using the rescue more than twice a week, and a written action plan.
