What's in it
A Myers' Cocktail is a bag of fluid with vitamin C, B-complex, B12, magnesium and, at Zen IV Spa, zinc and glutathione. It was put together decades ago by a Baltimore physician, John Myers, and later written up by Dr. Alan Gaby, who used it for fatigue, migraines, asthma and more.
What the research says
The honest answer is "not much, and mixed." Dr. Gaby's reports were his own patients' experiences, not controlled trials. One small controlled trial in people with fibromyalgia found that both the Myers' group and the placebo group improved, with no clear difference between them. There is no good trial in chronic fatigue syndrome. We say that plainly because you deserve to know it before you book.
Why some people feel better anyway
Several things in the bag address common reasons for tiredness. Low B12 and low magnesium both feel like fatigue, and the drip replaces them. A liter of fluid fixes mild dehydration, which is more common than people think in a city where you drink coffee all day. Many people describe feeling clearer and steadier for a few days after. That is a real effect for them, even if the trials are thin.
What to do first
Before any drip for long-term fatigue, get the numbers: iron, B12, vitamin D, thyroid, blood sugar. One blood draw covers them. We draw it at your home anywhere in New York and New Jersey and a licensed provider reads it with you. If something is low, fixing that one thing beats any cocktail. Sleep, movement and stress are the other big three, and no bag replaces them.
If you want to try it
Fair enough. Many people do, and it is safe for most healthy adults after a licensed provider reviews your health history. A licensed nurse mixes it in front of you, checks your blood pressure and pulse first, and stays the whole 45 minutes. Pay attention to how you feel over the next week. If it helps, you will know. If it does not, you have lost an hour on your couch, not a month.
