What growth hormone really does

Growth hormone, or HGH, is made by a gland at the base of your brain. In kids it drives growth. In adults it helps control body composition: how much of you is fat versus lean tissue, how fast you recover, how your tendons and skin hold up.

When adults take extra HGH, the research shows a real drop in body fat and a gain in lean mass. The catch, which the trials keep finding, is that the "lean mass" is mostly water and connective tissue, not contractile muscle. You look fuller; you don't get measurably stronger. That's the paradox.

Why peptides came out of it

Years ago a federal law made HGH itself hard to prescribe outside a few diagnoses. That pushed interest toward smaller pieces of the hormone and toward signals that nudge your own body to make more of it. Two kinds you'll hear about:

  • Fragments. AOD-9604 is a small piece of the HGH molecule, the part linked to fat breakdown, without the growth signal. It's studied for fat loss, not muscle.
  • Releasers. Peptides that tell your own pituitary to release more growth hormone in its natural rhythm, rather than adding hormone from outside.

What it means for you

If your goal is strength, the honest answer is training, protein and sleep. If your goal is body composition, recovery or stubborn fat, there are peptides worth asking a provider about, and AOD-9604 paired with MOTS-c is one we offer in New York and New Jersey. MOTS-c is a tiny peptide made inside your mitochondria that's studied for how cells handle energy and exercise.

Every peptide program starts the same way with us: a licensed provider reviews your health history on a quick video call and writes an order just for you, under our medical director's protocols. Your program ships to your door, anywhere in New York and New Jersey.
