Why levels drop
Glutathione falls with age, heavy drinking, poor sleep, illness and hard training. That is why it shows up in hangover and recovery conversations.
Skin: what the research says
Glutathione became famous for "skin brightening." Small studies, mostly in Asia, found a modest lightening of skin tone with oral or topical glutathione over several weeks. The studies are small and short, and the effect fades when you stop. We say it plainly: glutathione may support a clearer, more even look, and it is not a permanent change.
Recovery: what the research says
Glutathione is used up during intense exercise and heavy drinking. Replacing it is thought to help the body recover, and that is why it is in our Myers' Cocktail and Hangover drips. The human evidence for faster recovery is limited; most of what people report is how they feel the next day.
How it's given
By mouth, glutathione is poorly absorbed; most of it breaks down in the gut. That is why it is usually given as a slow IV push at the end of a drip or as a shot. At Zen IV Spa a licensed nurse gives it at your home, hotel or office anywhere in New York and New Jersey, after a licensed provider reviews your health history.
Who should skip it
Anyone with a sulfa allergy or asthma should tell the provider on the call; glutathione can rarely trigger wheezing. Pregnant or breastfeeding clients should wait.
